14-year-old boy arrested in Minneapolis homicide

Minneapolis police arrested a 14-year-old boy wanted in the murder of 32-year-old Chris Stephano Bennett in April in the city’s Stevens Square neighborhood.
The teenager was charged by warrant on April 27 with third-degree murder and three counts of second-degree assault in connection with Bennett’s death, a spokesperson for the Hennepin County District Attorney confirmed to the Star Tribune.
He was arrested on Monday and remains incarcerated at the Minneapolis Juvenile Detention Center.
Bennett was shot in the head on April 18 on the 1800 block of Nicollet Av., south of downtown. Police found him lying unconscious on the street at around 4:22 p.m. He was taken to HCMC, where he died three days later.
The records of minors under the age of 16 at the time of their crime are not open to the public. The Star Tribune generally does not identify minors so young unless they are charged as adults.
