DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) – A 14-year-old Decatur youth was arrested by the United States Marshals Service on Tuesday and is being held at Peoria Juvenile Detention Center for an April 26 shooting.

On April 26, Decatur police responded to a call for gunfire at the Concord Apartments around 8:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found a 49-year-old resident who had been shot. Officers considered it to be a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.

Officials said Decatur Police detectives had obtained a warrant for the teenager’s arrest for attempted murder.

The same teenager was also charged with aggravated discharging a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Officers said the charges stem from a May 6 shooting at Lock Stock & Barrel.

Additionally, officers said he was previously charged with two separate firearm offenses in September 2021 and March 2022.
