Fight against wild gatherings despite the curfew and stem the phenomenon of urban violence on New Year’s Eve: will the Interior Ministry succeed in responding to a double request?
Gérald Darmanin mobilized the prefects of the whole territory during a weekly videoconference on December 29, according to information from the Parisian. The instructions were clear: sanitary firmness for the New Years Eve of December 31.
The Minister of the Interior would have asked in particular to set up very “visible” security forces devices in order to dissuade New Year’s Eve revelers who would like to infringe the rules enacted previously: curfew at 8 p.m. and gauge of six people at the table.
Gérald Darmanin wrote in a telegram to all the prefects on December 28: “You will concentrate the action of the police and gendarmerie forces in town centers and sensitive neighborhoods and areas.”
Certain places very supervised
According to information from our colleagues, the minister called in the same telegram to issue orders prohibiting the sale of alcohol and fuel. In addition, the potential gathering places on New Year’s Eve (such as the Champs-Elysées in Paris or the Place Bellecour in Lyon) will be closely watched.
